Overview

We offer a varied selection of programs designed to meet the curriculum standards set forth by state and national educators in the areas of Science, Math, Social Studies and English.

We strive to ensure that the experiences provided will be an extension of what is learned in the classroom, and to provide students with a deeper understanding of why it is important to protect and conserve our ocean’s environment.

ALL AGES

Ocean Challenge

Using a “Jeopardy” like format, students are challenged to answer questions in several categories that deal with the ocean and life within the ocean. The thrill of competition makes learning fun and exciting.

Are You Smarter than Sharkee

Similar to the popular game show, students will choose different marine science categories and see if the can stump Ripley’s Aquarium’s mascot Sharkee.

Who Wants to Be a Marine Biologist

During this multiple choice quiz show students will be challenged to answer a number of different questions about the marine environment. Prizes are awarded and everyone is a winner.

Sharks Tails and Teeth

Students will learn fascinating facts about some of diverse group of sharks that live in the ocean. They will leave with an understanding of the important part that sharks play in our oceans ecosystems and why it is important to protect them.

Save the Wave

The ocean environment is such a valuable resource. Find out how our daily activities affect this fragile ecosystem and what we can do to help protect it for future generations.

Pre K

Wiggles, Jiggles & Giggles Beneath the Sea

Dance like a dolphin and fly like a ray as we explore the wonderful world of sea creatures through movement and music. Students will learn how different underwater creatures make their way through the ocean.

Ocean Art

Art and fun are the basis of this program designed especially for Pre – K students. Using art students will learn where different underwater animals live and why their habitats are so unique.

Ollie Octopus

Octopus are one of the oceans most fascinating creatures. Find out what make octopus and their friends such unique creature during this fun and lovable story.

K–2nd

Animal Adaptations

What is an adaptation and how do they help animals survive in their environment? During this interactive program, students will explore the many adaptations of marine animals.

Beach Creature Bingo

Using the popular game Bingo, students will learn about the fascinating sea creatures they may encounter while walking along the beach. From sea stars to jellies, you will discover an exciting world of marine life during this game.

Fish Bowl

Students will explore the characteristics of a habitat from the perspective of a goldfish. Are food, water and shelter the only things that a fish needs to survive? Find out during this hands – on discovery.

3rd–5th

Pollution Solution

This program is designed to teach students about the effect of pollution on our oceans and marine life. How long will our trash stay around? Find out as you tackle the problem of pollution and explore its effects on our local environment and beyond.

Blubber, Baleen and Blowholes

What do blubber, baleen and blowholes have in common? You will be able to answer that question and a lot more as we dive into the world of marine mammals.

Sea Turtles

Did you know that 5 of the seven sea turtles found throughout the world can be found right off the South Carolina Coast?

Discover the feeding and nesting habits of these beautiful creatures while learning what can be done to help protect and conserve them.

6th–8th

Sea Sounds

Humpbacks sing, dolphins click and fish grunt. Students explore the sounds of the ocean during this program on the science of sounds.

Invert Investigators

Students discover the diversity of animals without a backbone during this program. After exploring invertebrates adaptations, students will build and invertebrate of their own using their new knowledge.

Match Maker

The relationships between organisms are an important part of survival. Students will learn which relationships are beneficial and which are harmful when they match up the organisms during this activity.

High School

The Deep Sea

Students will learn about the secrets that exist in the deep ocean where new species of marine life are being discovered each day. Students will discover a new world of light that exists in the deep while being introduced to the world of bioluminescence.

Squid Dissection Lab

Get an inside look at the unique survival adaptations in this hands-on squid dissection.

Careers in Marine Science

Explore a variety of fascinating careers in Marine Science. From animal training to water chemistry students can search for their niche in this dynamic field.
